Oliva the Hambone

Each day Olivia shows us a little more of her unique personality.  We have found her to be quite the silly girl.  We should have known...  her first smile came from us pretending to eat her toes!  He first giggle -- I went to kiss her on her cheek, she turned her head and I kissed her nose.  Funny stuff.

She is a professional crawler now, getting into all sorts of things.  We finished baby-proofing our upstairs this weekend.  She loves when we use blankets to make forts and tunnels for her to crawl around in.

This week she thinks it's funny to scrunch up her nose and make this strange face. She flares her nostrils and sniffs in and out - like Sage. Yep, that's my kid.  What did you expect her to be like?!

We have been trying out her hats and sunglasses so that she can get used to wearing them this summer.  She will keep them on if we show her what she looks like in the mirror first.  She thinks she is pretty cool here.

'My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades.'

What can I say... she cracks me up!

8.5 months

Hello... is anybody out there....

It's been way too long since my last post, so I'd understand if there isn't anyone out there following me.  A friend recently inspired me to start blogging again...so here I go!

It's amazing what can happen in your life in just 8.5 months.  Our little Miss O is coming up on 9 months and I can barely remember how our life felt without her in it. I was pregnant for 8.5 months before that. I can tell you the last 8.5 months have went by way faster than the 8.5 months before that!  Does anyone know how to slow down time?!!  I feel like it is continually speeding up on me and that is exactly the reason why I haven't been blogging.  I've been really focused on spending time with my family.  However, I've realized that blogging helps me to live in the present and forces me to look at how amazing life is on a regular basis. It's like a journal for myself, that I share with my friends. Lucky you! ;)

So, this is what 8.5 months looks like on our darling little girl.  I know it's to be expected, but she really has become our everything.  I continually tell Andrew 'we are rich!'  By which I mean, we are 'rich' in love. And really what else do you need, right?!

Our little bundle of joy...

1 month - naps on mom & dad are the best!

2 months - Liv's 1st boat ride

3 months - she's starting to show her unique personality!

4 months - she has become the smiley girl we know & love.

5 months - hey, look at me! I'm pretty cool sitting up!

6 months - Jumperoo = constant entertainment

7 months - mommy & daddy's little valentine for life

8 months - this swing thing is pretty sweet!

8.5 months - Our little ham!

(By the way - I have decided the only way this blogging thing can work out is if I post a lot of my phone pics. Who has time to upload real photos?!)

It's been so fun to watch Olivia grow into her own little person.  She is such a good little girl - mostly happy as long as her general needs are met.  She is always smiling and so silly!  Her favorite things right now: singing in the car, playing with her friends at daycare, visiting all of her grandparents, hanging with her puppy, being somewhat mobile, eating sweet potatoes and applesauce.  Mommy's favorite things right now: singing with her in the car, nighttime snuggles, hearing 'mama' and 'dada', watching her interact with her grandparents, listening to her play, her big silly smile and crazy fly-away hair.

Everyone has been telling me to really cherish these moments and I must say, I feel like I am doing my best at that.  My life isn't perfect, but when I am snuggled up with my sweet little family - my life feels perfect.

So, let me know if you have found the trick to slow down the speed of life. Hopefully, I'll be back to post again soon!

It's a girl!

As most of you know, Baby Satnik decided to come early.  Meet our newest addition... Miss Olivia Lynette Satnik. She was born on July 15th, 2011 at 9:26 AM. She weighed 6 lbs 15 oz and was 20 inches long.

I promise that some day soon I will get this blog updated with shower pics, our labor & delivery story, and of course how the fisrt 2 weeks of parenthood have been going.  However, right now Miss Olivia is waking from a nap and is a bit hungry. Gotta go!

Getting ready for baby!

A lot has happened since my last post!  We have had 2 more doctor appointments, a maternity photo session, 2 baby showers, and purchased a glider rocker for baby's room.  As we get closer to our due date I seriously feel like time is flying by.  Since I don't feel like writing a book today, I will tell you about the doctor appointments and maternity photo session. You will have to check back in a couple days to hear about the rest. Plus, I have to upload pictures of the showers which always takes me awhile to get to.

So, doctor's appointment #7 was good and quick.  The baby's heart rate was 150 bpm and the doc said she thought baby was head down. We had appointment #8 today as I now have to go in every 2 weeks to get checked out.  I'm officially 35 weeks now... only 5 weeks to go!  Once again baby's heart rate was 150 bpm and she confirmed that baby is head down.  She also estimated that our little one weighs about 5 lbs now!  Things are progressing as they should.

Now the fun stuff... our maternity photo session! My friend Alyssa is a wonderful photographer and agreed to take some pics of us with the baby bump.  We met her at a local park and had a great time giving some attention to the bump.  She did such an amazing job and I love all of the pictures she took. I can hardly wait to have her take pics of our little one.  Here are some of my favorites...

I am so glad that we had these pictures taken. I will cherish them and this time in our life forever.

32 weeks

8 months pregnant today...  and I have the belly to prove it!

I haven't been very diligent about posting lately, so I made it a point to get my picture taken this morning!  And look, I even got it posted.  :)

I don't really have much new to report...  With only 2 months to go, we have slowly been getting things ready.  Last weekend we picked up a crib mattress, some frames, and cute baskets for baby's room.  I even started washing some of the clothes and blankets we have.  Even though baby stuff is small, I ended up having 6 loads to do!  (We have a lot of blankets.)  It was kind of fun to go through everything and fold up the little onesies.

The other day I came home and found Andy working in the baby's room. He had taken it upon himself to put back together the cleaned up bassinet, put the liners back into our baskets, and figure out how the carseat works with the base.  How sweet!

Last weekend I said goodbye to one of my best friends who is on her way to Mongolia with the Peace Corps. She wont be in the country when Baby Satnik makes an arrival, so she gave us some baby gifts before she left.  There was one small package she said that Andrew had to open....

PERFECT!  I'll have to remember to send her a pic of the baby in this special onesie!

My next appointment is coming up on June 8th, so I'll be back to report on that soon.

It's getting to be that time....

I got my weekly email from Fit Pregnancy updating me on what's going on inside my belly...

Around now your baby will probably have moved into the head-down position and he will soon descend into your pelvis. This position prepares him for birth and allows blood to flow to his developing brain.

I guess I should have known, but this email took me by surprise.  Baby is getting ready to come out in the near future... this is exciting and scary all at the same time!

I'm pretty sure this email was designed to bring on nesting. I better start getting my things in order!

Appointment #6

I had another doctors appointment about 2 weeks ago. I've been meaning to post ever since then, but obviously that hasn't happened.  I wanted to upload my 28 week baby bump picture and just haven't made the time.  So, no bump pic right now, but maybe this post will motivate me to get it up here!

The appointment went well and everything is looking good for Baby Satnik.  My weight gain is within normal ranges, belly measurements were good, and baby's heart rate was 150 bpm.  My next appointment is coming up on June 8th. Then I'll have to start going in every 2 weeks until I'm 36 weeks along. After that I'll be going every week until baby arrives.  With my doctor talking about delivery and more frequent visits, I left feeling excited to be on the home stretch.  I can't wait to meet our baby!

I am feeling like we have most everything we would need if baby decided to come early.  We have the essentials and last weekend my mom gave us the travel system we had registered for at Babies R Us.  So now we have a car seat to bring our babe home in!  We are happy with the travel system we picked out and are looking forward to using it.

Andrew put the wheels on the stroller and made sure that everything works properly. It's so crazy to think that pretty soon we will have a little one to put in there!

As for me, I'm still feeling pretty good. My belly is definitely getting bigger by the week, maybe even the day!  The only issues I have been dealing with are lower back pain and heart burn at night. Both are still managable though, so I can't complain too much.  The weather has been a bit warmer and I've been able to feel the difference.  I think I'll be wearing a lot of skirts and dresses this summer.  I'm always warm with this little baby heater inside of me! Thank goodness for air conditioning.

Some friends, family, and co-workers have started to plan baby showers for us.  We are feeling very blessed to have so many wonderful people in our life who are anxious to meet Baby Satnik.  It should be a fun couple of months with all of the celebrations!
